Movie trailers have taken on a life of their own. We’ve reached a point as a movie-watching society where people will go see films that they’re less interested in, purely in the hopes of catching a trailer for an upcoming movie with tremendous buzz. The whole process is absolutely fascinating. Despite the fact that most movie trailer styles have had an impact on the trailers of the modern era, trailers haven’t always had such importance for movie-goers and studios. Someone had to come up with the idea and implement it. Continue reading

Fans of the Star Wars trilogy have been up in arms ever since seeing the edits that George Lucas recently made to the original trilogy. They are no doubt letting the hatred flow through them right about now. The fine folks at the LAMB- Large Association of Movie Blogs- have a hilarious photoshop contest going on in conjunction with the event. It’s called “Other Horrible Changes George Lucas Can Make To The Original Star Wars Series“. If you have submissions, be sure to get them in by September 19th. I’ve taken my own crack at it. As much as the changes may have rankled fans of the epic trilogy, it clearly could have been worse. For instance… Continue reading
I could give some sort of preamble here, an introductory paragraph of sorts. Doors reference aside, I think the headline is as much truth in advertising as you’ll ever find. What is this? It’s a list of movie characters who were lit on fire. It all begins with a spark:

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, a really awesome bounty hunter captured the imaginations of a generation of Star Wars nerds. No, I’m not talking about Bosk, IG-88, or even the fat guy with the head wound, Dengar. I’m talking, of course, about Boba Fett, who is something of a cult hero from the Star Wars universe. Way back in college, I can remember a friend of mine owning a Boba Fett coffee mug that he’d proudly display everywhere he went. Bear in mind that this was in 1996, before the prequels and twelve years after the original trilogy had ended. He was no hipster. There was no irony intended. At any rate, Boba Fett makes everything better. So here are a twelve movies that I think would improve if they involved the Fett helmet, a blaster, and a jet pack.
I passed a milestone recently here at TDYLF. Thanks to the help of the editors over at IMDB, I passed the 100,000 Hits milestone on Sunday (with a whopping 80,000+ of those hits coming just since September 30th). To celebrate, I’m beginning a brand new series called “100 Things I Love About the Movies”. To be sure, there a LOT more than 100 things that I love about the movies. As such, this has the potential to become a series- 100 Things I Love About Horror Movies, 100 Things I Love About Foreign Movies, and on and on. I present to you the first edition of “100 Things I Love About the Movies”.
