I’m a firm believer that movie tastes are organic. They constantly change as we’re exposed to new things. If you don’t believe me, take a second to think about what your favorite movie is now compared to 10 years ago, 20 years ago, or longer. How about your favorite actors, actresses, directors, and movie characters? Surely things have changed. Here’s how it plays out for me. Continue reading

The 1990s were a magical time for cinema. Studios began to embrace newer, younger filmmakers with their own unique stories to tell. Fortunately, I was old enough to watch these movies, and they subsequently played a pivotal role in my development as a cinephile. The high school and college years are the perfect time to be introduced to new culture. And for me, that culture included quite a few of the very best films made in the last 30 years. I passed a milestone recently here at TDYLF. Thanks to the help of the editors over at IMDB, I passed the 100,000 Hits milestone on Sunday (with a whopping 80,000+ of those hits coming just since September 30th). To celebrate, I’m beginning a brand new series called “100 Things I Love About the Movies”. To be sure, there a LOT more than 100 things that I love about the movies. As such, this has the potential to become a series- 100 Things I Love About Horror Movies, 100 Things I Love About Foreign Movies, and on and on. I present to you the first edition of “100 Things I Love About the Movies”.
Here are 12 Great Moments in Movie History, using stick figures. In short, I’ve used Adobe Illustrator in the exact wrong way it’s intended to be used. I’ve used it to try to replicate the childlike stupidity and simplicity of MS Paint drawings. You can click on any of these to get a version with higher resolution. Enjoy!
Good news, everyone! Here are eight movies that would’ve been better with Futurama characters in them.
