Great Moments in Movie History Using Stick Figures: 2001: A Space Odyssey

In full disclosure, I’ve already done a Great Moments in Movie History for today’s film- 2001: A Space Odyssey. But that version was admittedly a bit of a cop-out. To atone for my error, I’ve decided to re-visit the film with stick figures. This version stays true to (part of) the heart of the film- namely that a sentient murderous space ship is a legitimate threat to the passengers it’s carrying. Here is 2001: A Space Odyssey using stick figures.

I was too young when I saw that movie. Scared the beans out of me.

Couldn’t they have programmed Hal not to understand words like “bastard”?

    A masterpiece…it so beautifully captures Kubrick’s vision.

Also…1968 was the BEST year of the decade for horror flicks yo.

    • Night of the Living Dead, The Devil Rides Out, Hour of the Wolf, Spider Baby, Kuroneko… It’d be pretty damned tough to top.

(you should write about this… the 10 best years for horror ever)

  3. I love that scene! It’s batshitcrazy because it’s HAL 9000’s pov and not the human’s. We can feel how he gets excluded from that conversation.
