Tale of the Tape: The Avengers vs. The Village People

I was talking to my friend Jeff the other day, and he made a hilarious and timely observation. He had just seen a trailer for the highly-anticipated The Avengers, about to hit theatres in the US this weekend. He pointed out that they’re a group of (mostly) ripped dudes wearing tight clothing who will be entertaining the masses. In other words, they’re just like the Village People. After I got done laughing, I realized that the only way to determine which super-group reigns supreme would be by comparing the two side-by-side, with purely factual information. It’s scientific…ish. And so, I present to you the tale of the tape- The Avengers vs. The Village People:

The Village People made a nice run at it. They even picked up one victory by subduing their attire more than the band of superheroes. They also earned two ties thanks to their support of GLAAD and only having one member wearing a vest. Still, Nick Fury’s gang comes out victorious, and looks primed for further battle this coming weekend.

  4. Hahaha! This may be your finest post yet, John.

    • Heh… thanks Eric. It’s all on my friend Jeff, who gave me the idea. I chuckled throughout the day that he made the analogy to me.

  5. Ahahaha, this is just awesome, John! Those IMDb folks are kicking themselves for taking out the hitlist as this should definitely make the list!!

It wouldn’t have changed the results, but clearly “Members in Hats” should have been a category that would have helped the Villagers make the score a bit closer.

    Better yet: Members in Headdresses
