What Has Johnny Five Done Since 1988?

Ever since he got electrocuted and became intelligent in 1986, Johnny Five the military robot has won our hearts. He won us over so much that a sequel even seemed like a good idea (it wasn’t) in 1988. But you don’t just throw away a fine robot like Johnny Five when his movie functionality is over. What has Johnny Five been up to since 1988?

I read a while back that there would be a remake or a re-boot or whatever. Can’t say I plan to see it. But, this was really funny. I loved 1999. Reminds me of the humping robot from Robot Chicken.

  2. Strangely we were just talking about this film last night. It would fit in with our 80s education for our kids.

Very funny yet a again John.

I absolutely loved this movie as a kid. Even the sequel. But then, it really was written on the eight year old level. A reboot with some Transformers-esque explosions is presumably due out next year.

I was really hoping that Johnny Five had bludgeoned El DeBarge with a baseball bat for recording “Who’s Johnny” on the Short Circuit 2 soundtrack.

    • Did he really need a reason to bludgeon El Debarge?

Please tell me that you own the Short Circuit 2 soundtrack.

I know what you’re thinking. Me possibly owning the Short Circuit 2 soundtrack might be one of those Rule of 13 things. I actually never owned it. I do remember buying Falco’s album with Rock Me Amadeus on it. Also falling on the Rule of 13 list would be my unwavering love of the Police Academy movies.

  5. This is hilarious! I watched Short Circuit when I was like, seven years old. It was definitely one of the highlights of my Familymovius Cartoonata stage in movie geek evolution.
