It’s really easy for sex scenes in movies to take themselves entirely too seriously. That’s not to say that they’re ineffective. They’re just so over the top sometimes. And to be honest, I think that’s why I take so much delight when a film holds nothing sacred about it and does a full-on spoof. Here are my nine favorite and/or funniest sex scene spoofs (and a bonus tenth from the same movie). Warning: these scenes are very much NSFW, and probably offensive to some.
1. The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad (1988)
Leave it to Frank Drebin, the morally upright (if misguided) Reagan-era supercop to practice safe sex that’s this safe:
2. Bad Santa (2003)
There are so many payoffs here- the locale, Billy Bob Thornton’s dialogue, and the image of Santa’s pants around his ankles whilst doing the deed.
3. Bananas (1971)
Sadly, I can find no video. But how can you turn down a sex scene- one that consummates a marriage- that features commentary by Howard Cosell reporting for ABC’s Wide World of Sports?
4. Team America: World Police (2004)
It just kept going and going and going. I was honestly embarrassed by how hard I laughed when I saw this in the theater.
5. Diner (1982)
The set-up is classic young-people-trying-to-get-laid highjinx. And Rourke’s reaction after getting busted is pure gold.
6. American Pie (1999)
Who said anything about funny sex scenes involving both a man AND a woman? Or that pastries were excluded? Again, I can’t find a clip but odds are good that you’ve either seen or heard about the scene in question, in which Jason Biggs’ character defiles a pie. And trust me- don’t go looking for the video. I tried and unearthed a ton of things I wish I hadn’t.
7 and 7 1/2. MacGruber (2010)
Like Bad Santa, there are a lot of payoffs here. And like Team America, it just keeps going and going and going. Usually, when sound goes dead in a movie, it’s a setup for a horror shock. In MacGruber, it’s used to set up the yuks. And that’s followed by great dialogue from both of them… which leads to another ridiculous, absurd, hilarious sex scene with equally great dialogue. And there’s also the spectacularly over the top use of Mr. Mister’s Take These Broken Wings. Oh, and uh… fair warning, if you watch this video, you’re going to see Will Forte’s ass.
8 1/2. Dead Alive (1992)
Way back before Peter Jackson made the Lord of the Rings trilogy or even The Frighteners, he made a really fantastic gross-out zom com called Dead Alive. And it features- you guessed it- two zombies going at it.
9 1/2. Animal House (1978)
The angel vs. devil bit wasn’t anything new, really. In the very least, you could find the schtick being used in Looney Tunes cartoons. But I doubt it’d ever been used for anything as insidious as what young Pinto is contemplating here. You can find the clip here.
