The Lammys: Thank You

As many of you know, my site is a member of the Large Association of Movie Blogs, or “LAMB” as it were There are 1,275 member sites to date. Each year, the LAMB has awards voting for several categories. It’s called The Lammys. The awards are a two-step process. First, nominations are tallied. Then, the members receiving the most nominations enter into another vote to determine the winners in the various categories. The finalists were announced earlier this week on the Man, I Love Films/LAMB podcast. You can find the full list of finalists here, compiled by wunderkind writer Sam Fragoso at Duke and the Movies.

Where I’m going with all of this is that I received enough votes that I’m a finalist in three categories- Best New Lamb, Funniest Writer, and Best Blog. You have no idea how flattered and grateful I am for all of the nominations. The Best Blog category, especially, blew me away because there are a lot of tremendous member sites. I owe a hearty “thank you” to all of my readers and all of the people who voted for me in the polling.

It’s a major award!

I’d encourage everyone to check out the list of nominees and read their sites. There aren’t enough superlatives for their work, and many of them received votes on my ballot. Similarly, there are a lot of really fantastic sites that didn’t receive nominations. You can find those in the complete list of LAMBs on the LAMB website, and I’d strongly encourage you to check those out as well. I’d list all of the sites that I read, but there are far too many and I’m afraid I’d leave someone out.

If you’re a LAMB member and you’re so inclined, I’d be very appreciative of the votes… but I also understand that the competition is fierce. I’d feel no shame whatsoever if I lost out to any of the other nominees. For now, this ridiculous clip of Sally Field from the 1984 Academy Awards sums up my feelings (except without the tears, the perma-grin, and the shaky voice):

  1. Congratulations! I don’t comment much here, but I’m a regular reader and I have a part in the nominating of you. :)

    • Hearing it from a fellow nominee is really great. Thank you so much, Jessica. The best part of the Lammy process is getting to know about new sites and I’m relatively new to yours. It’s definitely a great site and I recently subscribed.
